Red Edge is a traditional family owned winery located in the heart of the Heathcote wine region. Established in the 1994 Red Edge prioritizes minimal intervention and traditional techniques to create wines that express the unique character of Heathcote’s terroir. They strive for high-quality, full-bodied Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon alongside other European grape varieties including Tempranillo, Graciano, Mourvèdre and Touriga Nacional. Winemaker and founder Peter Dredge expanded the original 4.5 acres of 1971 planted Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, now managing 37 acres of vineyards with son Will. Hand-picked fruit comes from vines rarely exceed 2 tonnes to the acre, with the best fruit often well below this. As true vignerons, all wines are made from estate grown fruit, in an off grid solar powered winery. The wines are aged in a mixture of barriques, puncheons and stainless steel and then bottled on site after 18-24 months of ageing.
